Meet Our Principal

Welcome to Tomek-Eastern Elementary! I’m Nate Gatlin, and I am thrilled to join this vibrant and welcoming community as your new principal. With 16 years in education, including roles as teacher, coach, assistant principal, principal, and director, I am passionate about creating a nurturing environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. On a personal note, my family and I are deeply rooted in the Fenton community. I have three wonderful children who attend Fenton schools. My wife, Heather, is also a dedicated teacher at the Career Institute in Genesee County. We love road-tripping together and supporting each other in gymnastics, basketball, football, volleyball, and various other sports. Our dog, Remy, is an integral part of our family and enjoys joining us on walks and runs. I believe that strong partnerships between home and school are vital for student success. As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I look forward to meeting our students and their families, celebrating achievements, and fostering a school culture where every child feels valued and inspired. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or ideas at ngatlin@fentonschools.org. I’m excited to start this journey with you and to make this school year exceptional for all!
